Presenter: Sam Khoza (UNIVEN)
Chair: Mmusi Kekonnwe (BOU)

SYNOPSIS
In today’s digital age, universities are increasingly targeted by cyber threats due to the vast amounts of sensitive data they hold. The University of Venda, like many higher education institutions, faces significant cybersecurity challenges. These threats include phishing attacks, ransomware, and data breaches, which can compromise personal information, research data, and institutional integrity.
To enhance cybersecurity resilience, the University of Venda has adopted a comprehensive approach. This includes conducting regular vulnerability assessments, implementing robust security protocols, and fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness among students, faculty, and staff. Additionally, leveraging advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence for threat detection and response can significantly bolster the university’s defenses. By prioritizing these measures, the University of Venda can protect its digital assets, maintain trust, and ensure a secure learning environment for all its stakeholders.
