SYNOPSIS
Early Alert engine is an AI-driven Moodle program that enhances Moodle’s existing learning analytics predictions into a practical, teacher-driven intervention system. It uses built-in models (such as students at risk of dropping out or inactive students) and turns their outputs into structured alerts, categorised by risk level and displayed on a dedicated teacher dashboard.
Each alert provides clear, evidence-based indicators, such as missed submissions, lack of course access, low activity, grades, and progress so teachers understand why a student is at risk. The plugin enhances this with AI-generated, context-aware intervention suggestions tailored to each student and course, including pre-drafted emails and action tracking.
The dashboard supports daily teaching workflows with filtering, prioritisation, summary statistics, and full alert lifecycle tracking from identification to resolution. Overall, Early Alert bridges the gap between Moodle analytics and timely academic support, turning passive risk predictions into actionable, documented interventions that improve student success.
